At the mention of a logo project, my first thoughts were "Beyond Condor". You may be wondering why these words are relevant to this project, so I will explain. Years ago my best friend, Jeff, and I were hanging out. Just joking around we decided to come up with the name for our future game development team, as unlikely as that may have been. The first name we liked was "Rampage Studios", which is pretty cool, but we didn't feel that it was original enough for the two of us, so we kept thinking and eventually, by divine intervention, Jeff was sent two words, "Beyond" "Condor". Honestly we weren't even sure what exactly a condor was at the time, only that it was some type of bird, but I couldn't help but let out a "HOLY SHIT!", for these two words rang true! I asked him how he came up with it and he just shook his head, for it was just meant to be..
After a little research I learned that the condor is the largest flying land bird in the western hemisphere, with a wingspan of nearly 10 feet and possibly related to the Argentavis magnificens, which was an ancient South African bird with a wingspan of 23 feet. Also some scientists believe that the Thunderbird, a Native American legend, could be based off of the condor. This legend states that the Thunderbird was a winged creature with horns, teeth under it's beak, and could shoot lightning from it's eyes! It was also said to be able to shift into human form by taking off it's beak like a hood and feathers as a cloak.
So after researching this creature and discovering that it was insanely awesome in its own right, I went to work on some concept doodles to get an idea of how I wanted to do the logo.
So I had a lot of ideas, but I was finding it hard to incorporate the text into the logo. This problem was never overcome to the proficiency that I would have wished. I also spent more time thinking about how I wanted it than on actually making it.. I hate to make excuses, but I felt like I had more time, but between my other art project and preparing to obtain my driver's license (which I succeeded at woop woop!).. umm and lazing around.. the due date just crept up on me. I think it came out alright, I did still spend some time on it, but again I failed to inspire awe to the degree I planned.
